Offensive Thinking

Brain tumors suck. Hi, I'm Patrick btw. This is my cancer blog. My "normal" stuff is over here.

Patrick Meets Patric

Please excuse the potato quality, it was already late and this was shot with my Nexus 5 and not a real camera.

A couple of days ago, I finally met Patric, another brain tumor patient. I contacted him after I heard his WRINT podcast episode about being diagnosed with a Glioblastoma. Remember, back in 2013, I also did a WRINT podcast about my brain tumor.

So we already had three things in common: We both have the name “Patric[k]”, we both have a brain tumor (although to be fair, his diagnosis unfortunately is worse than mine), and we both already did a podcast about our illness. We also live rather closely together, in Aachen and Cologne respectively. As we found out, we also both work(ed) in IT security. Having a firm grasp on the difference between correlation and causation is a good thing if you meet the two of us ;).

We had a nice afternoon and chatted about treatment options, how life has changed since diagnosis, but also work and other stuff. Patric also currently uses the Novocure Optune device for treatment. I sincerely hope that it helps, it looks very promising.

We promised each other to attend next year’s Chaos Communication Congress together, so we have a shared goal to achieve :). I’m looking forward to it. If you want to know more about Patric and his journey (and understand German), please go and check out his own blog Diagnose Glioblastom.
